Trying to find the forest through the trees. I cannot promise that anything here will be politically correct or the slightest bit sensitive or respectful to any religion. These are my thoughts and my thoughts alone. Let that stand as a disclaimer.

The notion that Christians are being attacked and persecuted and kept from practicing their religion freely annoys me greatly. Because even if that were true, there would still be other religions that were more openly attacked, more widely persecuted, etc. I cannot recall a Christian in a public place (a school for example) being asked to remove their cross/crucifix/rosary/whatever.

To be fair, I live in California, which is reasonably liberal—but I live inland, where people have a general tendency to be much more conservative and religious than we’re depicted as being. I’ve also never seen a Muslim asked to remove their own religious dress of wear something more conforming.

But the point, I believe at least, stands: There is a very clear gap between what is acceptable and what is not. A woman wearing a hijab to school is looked upon with notable scrutiny and suspicion.

That, I think, is incredibly sad.
